I have the common green, one like yours, & the 'Schwarzkopf'. The 'Schwarzkopf' is definitely much darker than the one you have.

I may be contradicting myself, but from doing some reading, it looks like some sellers sell the variety similar to yours as "SchwartzkopfÂ, which gets confusing. I got mine from a botanic garden sale, so I trust their ID.

Here is one opinion:
When you buy this plant, make sure it is true, as some nurseries label all dark-leaved forms as "SchwartzkopfÂ

is Schwartzkopf dark in colour from the outset, or is it green to start with,darkening in the sun?

Aeonium 'Zwartkop' has dark purple leaves at all times. The center of the rosette will show 'some' green during times of active growth. Your plant is Not Aeonium zwartkop.

Aeonium arboreum var. atropurpureum is green in the winter, and develops lots of red and purple color during the rest of the year with more sun, but never achieves the deep dark purple color of 'zwartkop'. The amount of color correlates with the amount of light.

I grow both plants side-by-side. I'll try to get a pic up later.

I bought this plant (zwarktop variety) about 2 years ago now, it looks healthy but has only ever had 1 large rosette, how can i get it to grow side shoots, plus it does not appear to have grown much taller should i be changing the soil (it grows inside on my kitchen window)?
Anyone got any advice please?
