Discocactus puts on a show

My discocacti have been putting out one or two flowers at a time previous to this. This is the first time one of them had six flowers at once. I was pretty impressed with this show.

WOW! what a great show. Any idea of the species name on that?

RE: Discocactus puts on a show

My best guess is Discocactus crystallophilus. The flowers were very fragrant, opened up in the evening and closed up early the next morning.

Wow, that's gorgeous! D. crystalophilus looks right to me, too. That's not the easiest plant to keep happy; you've done a wonderful job!

The flowers are gorgeous! I never knew this cactus could bloom!
I have a similar Discocactus crystallophilus, but mine has no flowers. Do I need to treat it specially for it to bloom?
I am in south CA.

If it has a cephalium, it should be flowering. I use miracle grow on mine to encourage it to flower.
