Can you assist me in identifying this Cactus?

Hi There,

I am a newbie here and was wondering if you would be so kind to help me identify a certain cactus.

I came across this photo in the public domain and I believe this red cactus was photographed in Veracruz Mexico but no information about the cactus name was included in the posting.

Thank you for your consideration.

    Hi,

The pictures on my site (http://johnbokma.com/mexit/ ) are *not* in the public domain. Pictures are in general *always* copyrighted *unless* specified otherwise.

Anyway, I am as well curious of the name of this cactus :-)
My site has quite some pictures of cactuses because I do like those plants (have several) and love to take pictures of them.

Not sure of the type. Juveniles are hard to identify, but the red is caused due to sunburn. Those cactus need shade to survive the early years.

Might be a baby columnar. Stenocereus maybe?
