| Dear SnB,
This is the plant that I have, for too long, misidentified as Stenocereus beneckii - I now have realized the error of my ways, but I don't know the name of this one. Can you identify it? Thanks much

Me, ID a columnar? Seems unlikely. I can check possible names against descriptions though :) This one seems to match the description for S. pruinosus. I don't think its Polaskia chichipe, wrong colour, not enough ribs, too tubercular, not enough spines.

Dear Snb, Au contraire, mon ami, in the absence of Mr. Pickering..... We had had a discussion (someone had asked if a certain plant was a Polaskia) and I misID'd it, you ID'd it correctly (and, so I thought, 'volunteered' to have a gander (but not a goose) at mine). Thank you for the lead- I'll compare it with what I've found elsewhere.

I think Stenocereus pruinosus also Jeff ...Pruinosus has 5-6 ribs, Polaskia chichipe has many more than that, (up to 12 I think). CP

Indeed, I remember it well. Actually, I searched it down and read it again :) Anyway, that's where I got the Stenocereus pruinosus name to read about, I would not have known to check it otherwise! Polaskia chichipe is one of only a handful of columnar plants that I actually have in my collection, so every time someone posts a columnar, I think "That looks like Polaskia chichipe!" LOL.

That S. pruinosus was my first thought as well, but it looks very green to me. Pieter
