Adenium Obesum: Would you take a chance?

I just saw a flat of Adeniums at my local home depot. Each one is under four dollars and have a good sized 'trunk'. The only thing is that they all have yellowing to yellow leaves. I read here that it's normal for them at this time of year to drop leaves. But I'm wondering if it isn't a sign of a bigger problem. I did a quick check and I didn't see any bugs and the soil wasn't wet.
Some of them are pretty similar to the one I have in girth, but a little shorter. I'd like to buy them to use for trade or something; but I'm wondering if I'd just be throwing my money away. Would you chance it and buy them from HD?
