They look great. Do you do anything special to keep the spines bright white? Priviliged sunny spot? Limestone soil? Special fertiliser?

Dan, Thanks. The humboldtii is one of my favorites.

S&B, They need strong light. For the winter I keep it under very bright lights. The bulbs I use are called Natural sunlight. I use 2 40 watt bulbs and seems to do the trick. The Humboldtii is actually whitter than pictured. I had to lower the contrast in order to get a good pic. The whiteness was to bright and created too much of a glare. Same thing with the M. magallanii.
