Amy, the important bits are also in English. For more detailed species information, the A-D system is from Mesa Garden and they still tag each of the plants that they sell. I have been unable to find a key for the letters on the Mesa Garden site, but it is described well at Al's link.

Here is another table of general growing and flowering periods as found in England. So you'll notice a lot of plants growing in summer and not so many in winter!
