Yes indeedy, that is a nice little bloke Al. Is this coming to the end of it's growing season, or is it just beginning? I can't remember if they're winter or summer growers.
These poor critters in my Mesemb collection mostly get the same treatment---fall and winter growers. That flower bud has been pushing slowly for almost a month. I have a very fine fog nozzle to put on the hose and pretend that there are some fogs that roll in and refresh these guys occasionally over the summer but mostly they are subjected to terrible spring/summer droughts.
This is another very flexible one. Definitely dormant in high heat, and definitely dormant in the darkness of a northern winter, but otherwise happy enough to grow whenever it is watered.
How big is that one? These are normally tiny.
Check out what happens to them with plenty of water :) The description is for all G. nelii, but the picture is the pygmaeum form.
