A neat Asclepiad …..

It’s X Staparesia…

Reputed to be a natural hybrid of Tavaresia barkleyi and Stapelia gettliffei.
I’ve been impatiently watching the flower bud develop for more than a month.

For scale, it’s in a 3 ½" pot.

Ooo, another I've never seen before Al! Thanks!! I like the shape of that pod & the markings on the flower. Neat-O!

also nice !!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: A neat Asclepiad …..

Very nice plant, Al. I can never get over the gorgeous patterns the flowers have! It's too bad they don't smell like gardenias, but their beauty makes up for it.

Al, That's a true beauty! I love it! I love the Ascleps, but I have trouble getting them to bloom. I have several, and only one Huernia and one Duvalia rewarded me this season with blossoms. My Stapelia gigantea grew a decent-sized bud, then aborted. I just have bad luck with them. This is a really different looking one! Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for the comments, gang.

Amy - this one has virtually no odor. I stuck my nose way up close.

Kate - I think they need a lot of light. This plant managed to produce only this lone flower so far.
