I've seen one like this, but the name eludes me... if only I could remember... are those spines barbed?, I'm thinking something opuntoid?? but maybe not, it's not a Coryphantha though.

Ah, thanks for jolting my memory Fof, ... Corynopuntia is the genus name I was trying to think of... which is now Grusonia. G. emoryi is another plant similar to G. invicta.
