Sounds like you came home with some nice ones. I plan to collect more Gasterias next year. Have you had the Parodia ottonis before? They are nice and consistent bloomers. Also, mine sent up 2 pups from its roots in mid-summer this year which surprised me. Not many of them offset.

Thems big flowers on that Gasteria!

I guess I stand corrected on my earlier guesses. I forgot about the difference with many Gasteria between juvenile and mature forms. Your excelsa will most likely get quite a bit bigger and may lose some of its spots. The link below shows some mature plants.

I have to say that "Gasteriapolecat" just doesn't have the same ring to it. You're not getting soft in your years are you, CP? One spine too many in the finger and you're going for the soft, leafy succulents? Just kidding, I have my share of various succulents in my Oasis. I love the cane Yucca's and I passed on a "cow tongue" gasteria this past summer 'cause it looked sick. Carry on old boy, carry on.

Amy, ottonis was probably the first noto I ever bought, and I remember my excitement at it's first flower... I also think it was probably the first cactus I ever killed. Thanks for your pic, I love those big yellow flowers.
