Hello,
I need to confirm this plant is mammillaria matudae? Thanks in advance,

My plants of M matudae have shorter spines which don't stick out from the body, enabling you to lift the plant by the body without being pricked. So based on my plants, no, it is not M matudae. I don't have a pic at present to show you. HTH.

Looks basically like M. zeilmanniana, the arrangement of three straight red spines and a lower hooked one is quite distinctive. Check the flower colour, your's looks very dark red and M. zeilmanniana is usually quite pale.

Matthew, another Definitely Not matudae opinion. CP. great pics. My wife calls my large matudae 'the hippy plant' for its annual annular display of a purple wreath of flowers on its head :)

M. duoformis looks like a very good match.

Dan, I use photobucket but I think it is the same as webshots. Go to where you store your pics on webshots. Right click and copy the "tag" url. Make sure you copy the whole thing. Type out what you want to say than hit enter to start a new line. Then paste it to your message. I hope this helps. Dawn |

Dawn, you lucky, lucky, lucky lady, (drools prolifically), I love Mamm humboldtii, but I never see it on any plant lists here... seeing your pic induces an attack of the "wants". :) CP
