This is a "before" picture of my upcoming spring project. This area I'm planning on turning into my new cactus bed. There are a couple of native opuntia way in the back you can't see. There is a rocky gypsum outcrop there that I have just had a rock garden around for years. All I have done in this picture is pull some weeds. The tall grass at the back is native bluestem. The green leaves you see are some iris that really don't do well there because it is so rocky and dry. I'm hoping that by the end of next summer it will be full of lots more rocks and some hardy cactus.
