Storm hit hard!

It was awesome today, lightening and thundering and the winds blowing up to 60mph. That is if you were inside watching. Tumbleweeds even come through and stuck on one of our cars outside, let them go and more came down. I had to take one set of wind chimes down finally and bring in other garden ornaments blowing away and take my flag down. We had tornado warnings up a couple of times, a large tree came down on a house and various power problems around town. We weren't affected but it was awesome to watch. The neighbors lost their stand alone basketball courts and garbage containers that were empty went flying.

I caught the rain and hail driving sideways this time on my camera. Need another drain in the front flower bed with the new border though. Last night's rain already left an inch in the rain gauge and after the first storm today 1/2" more. Don't know what the last one left yet late this afternoon when I got these pics.

Our son in Modesto said it hit there later pretty hard too. How about you Westelle? How much did you catch Brenda out of this?

Wow, Leslie! Those winds are SO spooky! I'm very happy to hear you didn't have any damage.

We got a lot of rain early yesterday, like before the sun came up, then the south wind came. One of the branches snapped WAY up in the neighbor's tree, and it was dangling right above our home's power line...and our car and DH's ultralight plane. Yikes! PG&E got out here and removed it without any power loss or damage. Whew!

It's very quiet out there right now (5am). Rather strange, not hearing any rain or wind. LOL

As I said in another thread, my new rain gauge says we've gotten 3/4" since Sat. afternoon.... and it's raining now.

I'm not seeing any damage to the gardens from the house, but, if it will stop raining for a few minutes I might take a walk-about to see what nature hast wrought.

Looks like the rain was coming down nearly sideways. Your soil looks like it was absorbing it real well.

Westelle we didn't get hardly but a sprinkle on Mon though it rained some last night. My rain gauge always says more rain than the local airport reports. Of course our news is any Fresno channel too.

Hi Mikey, yes it was blowing so hard the heavy rain and hail were sideways. Every once in a while the directions changed. I need a drain still put in for that front flower bed, the side of the house drains through there. This was landscaped to keep the water flowing to the street instead of pooling at the house. Builder was sued for mold a few years ago so they landscaped like that. By the time that second hard storm of the day finished that front part had water in it for a short time.
