Hello Pat

What kind of injury did you get? Are you still toting around the O2 tank also? Just curious that you're taking care and not doing too much. Did you get those guys to come help you clean up your property?

Trying to take care of mine is majorly kicking my rear end.

Hi there Leslie...yes I still tote the oxygen, this has really slowed me down. And yes the guys came down and really cleaned up the place. It was mostly winter debri that just looks untidy. It was after they left,I went in to shower and when I pull off my shoe and sock, they were filled with blood. Fortunately I was in the bathroom, so the mess was kept minimal, but it kinda scared me when I looked at the wound. It's about 8 inches long and 3-4 inches wide, I can't believe that I felt nothing when this happened. Anyhow got to the M.D. he said it really should have stitches, but he was afraid the pain would be to much for this ole girl!. So he wrapped the wound in a bandage that is impregnated with anti-biotics. As much as I hate giving up, I guess it's time to face up and get something else to play around with. The house plants are still a challenge, hopefully they will make a good substitute for playing in the dirt. I was also surprised that so few people have gotten tetanus shot updates. Take care and don't you go overdoing now. Pat

WOW! Pat. Were you so cold that you didn't feel the injury? I had that happen when I was a teenager.... I put the tip of a small knife right trough my hand and didn't even feel it.... until later. That was a good reminder you gave the Forum; we don't think about all the injuries, big and small, that we get everyday.
    Take care..... both of you!

Oh, my goodness, Pat!! I'm so glad you're ok and healing nicely, but that is scary! Did something go right through your shoe? Yikes!

I've only done something similar, when I was a young'un, "mud skating" barefoot in a flooded baseball field. Something cut my foot, but I didn't notice it until later....and it wasn't nearly as bad as yours!

Sure hope that heals up for you without further ado, Miss Pat!

Thank you all for your concerns! I'm having to face the fact that I'm not the spring chickie anymore and maybe it's time to entertain the thought of a new hobby/interest. Gave that some thought too, boys(aka men) don't rate on the list, art/music: been there, done that! Participate in activies at the Senior Center, I don't think so!Most of them are crankier than I am! Taking into consideration that I am cranky, maybe a whirl in politics will keep the brain cells working. Nah...the guys I'd burn have no idea that they are being insulted, that's no fun! Well enough of this, if you come up with any viable ideas, give me a holler, hugs to all of you.....Pat

Definitely NOT bingo, Pat! I just don't imagine you're the bingo sort. LOL

You could always call up KQMS and let your crankiness flow. My folks always seem to have that station playing, and when I visit, I love listening to cranky callers. LOL Hey, I was born cranky, so I hear ya, Sister! :D

Maybe Turtle Bay needs a docent to liven up the ole stuffed shirts. And then there's always golf. :D

Leslie, I sure hope you're feeling better soon, too! I can't imagine trying to function with headaches ALL the time. :(

Pat, I'm sorry, I posted this and disappeared. I've been very busy and down and out. That's terrible, I'm glad you got it fixed, I don't think you have to give everything up, just accept a little more help:) My dad left a rake out when I was a kid, tines up and it was buried in the leaves. I stepped on it. I hope it's feeling a lot better by now.

Hey! I used to win a lot of money at Bingo in the 80's, my friend and I would go place to place several times a week, it furnished a house for me. Then I got my luck cut out and lost steadily more than I won so I quit:) Same time I started loosing at casinos too, LOL*

I don't know Pat, what you do keeps you young, you give into their demands you'll get old! This is what matters to you, interests you and makes you happy and you enjoy. I'd be fighting and kicking all the way to keep from I could do. I already told my son if he ever stuck me somewhere I didn't want to be when I'm old, I'd haunt him!! He laughed at me, he already thinks I don't have both oars in the water:)

ROFLMAO; Oh Leslie you do come up with some goodies, "I don't have both oars in the water"?!? Indeed! No question about it, I probably don't...I don't plan on giving up anytime soon, I just have to re-evaluate my life and then make some adjustments. My new MD is listening to what I say and asking me questions, that's a good sign. He was very surprised that I had not been sent to a lung specialist, so an appoint. is being set up. His apparent interest perks me up a bit. As soon as my leg heals, I'm sure I'll have a better attitude about everything, in the meantime, at the moment, I think life sucks! Not to worry, I'll get over it....I plan on being around for a while. Pat

I'm glad I gave you a good chuckle, Pat:) Laughter always makes things better, eases the stress, lightens the day. Better late than never on the lung specialist, I hope he can help you. I'm glad you like your Dr. that's the biggest part of trust and belief that someone cares and can help.

"I think life sucks!" I've kind of ascribed to that theory for 27 years now also, I got rid of the husband and the job that gave me the headache and here I still am. I alternately raged and cried and despaired over that off and on for years. Now, I'm just resigned. All the latest tests show nothing tangible responsible for the headache. I just went through 2 weeks of physical therapy and no pain meds, (for the third time), to prove to this Neurologist I see that under the rebound effect of the pain med the headache is still viciously there. He didn't believe me and was very mad at me that PT didn't have any effect at all. In fact the massage gave me a worse headache. So instead of wasting another $1300 for another 2 weeks worth, I am going to do the stretches at home. The Physical Therapist agreed with me and that made him mad too, he knows this woman and was convinced she could make it better. Hello? I know my body, massage would have to be a daily maintenance thing and that only loosens some of the muscles for a couple of hours before they tighten back up. No effect on the headache, it just let me turn my head more to the side without pain and the tight muscles stopping me. Now instead of being ahead of the pain which you have to do to manage it, I'm chasing it again. I don't know if I can go back to the level I was at of relief which is like a 7 on good days or an 8 on normal days on the pain scale of 10 being a migraine. It took the last 2 years to get to that from constant 9's and 10's I'd been in previously for years. Sorry, this is why I've been absent so much lately.

I'm always evaluating my life and I think the 'what doesn't kill you, makes you strong' is pretty apt. It's hard to be positive when you're in pain and with the medical problems you've experienced this last year makes it tougher. Inside you're the person who did what she wanted to do and took care of things, it's the outside, your body, that's letting you down and frustrating you. Taking control like with your Dr and seeing the specialist is positive and should make you feel better than sitting there wondering why do you have to accept this.

Your leg gets a little better you'll be more cheerful, do you like to read? Amazon is an excellent online bookstore, I buy from them several times a month. How about a craft to interest you while you're down. The internet is a wonderful thing to order things from to come right to your door. I can give you some trusted sites I use. QVC always has craft items, they're very safe to buy from, just use your debit card as a credit card.

I believe strongly in the power of thinking, I can. You don't strike me as anything other than strong, I know you can, sheer will and stubbornness always counts for a lot.
    (Hug to you)

Leslie: Have you tried acupuncture? I have a friend that this was the only help she got. Maybe it could work for you too.

    Also, beautiful rose.
