Here's the pic of the bud, at the very top of the tree like a Christmas angel. The blooms also mean I might get some of those crazy seeds hanging around in winter on the bare, silvery trunks (reminding me, again, of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree...). Yippee! LOL

That's a gorgeous pic Brenda:) These used to grow naturally all over the mtns and hills where I lived. In spring when they'd bloom they were so beautiful. Then without rain by fall eventually the trees all look like crap until the next year when they're reborn again.

I tried growing a few, but none survived the summer.

Mine definitely looks a tad ratty before the leaves completely fall from the tree, Leslie. I do give it supplemental water (about once every 3 weeks) during the dry months, so the leaves hang around a while longer for me.

Westelle, I was naughty...and got mine locally...not from a nursery. :D I think that's why it's done so well for me, as well as one I got for my mom.
