It's getting late to put anything in the ground, Leslie, but you could try it with the ones that aren't doing well anyway.

I just put some babies that I got from Mountain Valley Growers into bigger pots to develop a bigger root system. I'm not sure when I'll plant them.... maybe next Fall.

Ok, thanks, I saw them being offered and wanted to know. Guess I'll have to try again next spring. What I saw said to try them in pots, I don't grow anything well in pots. Next time I'm going to put them in the ground.

clematis will not grow in pots. They need very rich soil, and great drainage. Start over with new plants. The transition form a nursery pot is some times leads to death. I have had three, and only one has survived. Look at the roots in the pots, and they look unhealthy.
