A few days ago I received an e-mail from a GW member saying she had seen my posts on the GW and she also lived in the same city I live in. I responded and invited her to drop by anytime. About dusk that same day, she and her DH happened to be shopping nearby and swung by and we had a nice chat. I gave them a brief garden tour before darkness chased us out.

Have you guys made some GW friends, either in-person or on-line friends?

After her visit I started thinking about the number of nice people from the GW that I have met and several have become good friends that I see frequently. I met some of these friends by attending plant exchanges. I met another good friend by offering free bulbs to anyone who wanted to pick them up and he took up my offer. We are constantly giving each other our extra or unwanted plants. He recently gave me two HUGE clumps of clivia, way over a hundred dollars worth.... This particular friend has cost me a lot of money though LOL. He keeps finding plant sales for us to go to and sends me an e-mail asking if I want to go.... Not 30 minutes ago I read an e-mail from him advising me of a Plumeria sale.... I never met a plant sale I didn't like..... I met another GW friend who just happened to be driving by and saw me out gardening. She had driven by before when I was not outside and could tell that a gardener obviously lived there and so she made a point to stop and chat when she saw me.

Yes, besides talking with Pat, Westelle and Brenda, I met someone I talk with on the Rose Forum and email frequently. She drove down with her DH to visit the rose nursery here before it closed last spring. She came by my house and I got to meet her and I enjoyed that very much putting a face and a personality with the 'voice':) She went home with a mess of roses, LOL*

I've personally met a few, but have a GW pen-pal from Australia that I converse with on a regular basis. Then there are those who frequent this part of the forum who I feel as if I could just sit down with and have a great good time.... if we were to ever actually meet.

I haven't personally met anyone from GW, but I feel that we would have a great time if we DID meet! Not only folks here on this forum, but the (crazy) ponds forum, as well. :D

As compared to other types of forums I've visited in the past, gardeners are all heart, and when you have such a great hobby in common, it's hard to NOT make friends. The topics of conversation, and the levels of sharing, are endless. :)

Up till this past April when I changed ISP and got a new e-mail address I had some really nice e-mail conversations. But since last April I've been trying to get GW to change my e-mail address and it just isn't working. I've been to my personal page,I've sent e-mail to the "powers to be" and still I can't get the e-mail changed.

SOooooothis fall I'll see about getting a new ISP and see if that will take, then maybe I can resume some much missed friendships.

Pat, I'm so sorry to hear that you still haven't been able to get that resolved! I'm not sure how much it will help, but I've sent an email to tech support here at GW pleading your case. :)
