Wow Leslie, those pictures are an invitation to come visit the beach and oh my how I wish I could. I was raised at the beach areas as a kid during the spring and summer. The rest of the year was herding cows just 15-20 miles inland.

That blue is why everyone flocks to Cali! Gorgeous pics, Leslie! I'm not a fan of crowds, so I love going to over to the Point Reyes area. Sometimes, it's more crowded than others, but it's not so bad most of the time. However, there's more fog there, and less blue. :)

That was a gorgeous day. Wish I'd had the camera with me on the 3rd when the dust from the dunes met the marine layer off the ocean...

We ran down on the beach long enough to pick up some taffy and drive from one end to the other. Mom lives a few miles up the road.

I remember when we used to camp at the far end of the beach and no one would bother us down there. Now there is wall to wall people from one end to the other. Not my idea of camping and getting away from it all to find it still right next to you!

That must have been a lot of fun for you Pat as a kid to spend the time at the beach and hard work herding cows the rest of the time. My Mom has fond memories growing up in Long Beach, she was born in '29. She loves living where they do now, my Dad hates it, he's always cold:)

Actually, Leslie, they're surf kiting; wind surfing is done on a big board something like a big surf board with a sail. Your photos make me want to go to the beach this weekend. It's suppose to be 105º here. But.... I'm baby sitting the neighbor's hummers plus my own, so that's out until she gets back. (We trade Hummer Watches.)

Does that mean you have nests you are watching?

No.... Just cleaning and refilling the feeders.... which they desperately need because of the heat. We each have two big ones that get emptied daily by the various birds (besides the Hummers) that like a drink of sweet water.... surprisingly, there are quite a few.
