Garden web pages slow loading

More and more the Garden Web Pages have loaded slower and slower. Other web pages I go to load at the normal speed. I'm thinking it's all the ads with their flashing lights and frolicking beach goers. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if it is this web site?

When they are loading you can read the names of the various advertising companies, they load first. Al

Wait for this thread to disappear. Criticism not allowed. I can no longer load pages with embedded photos, possibly because I've got pop-up blockers, flash-ad inhibitors etc, running overtime.

GW once was the only fast thing on my dial-up modem, alas, that is gone as well.

Yup, ditto with my dial-up. I don't like being edged toward broadband. I've been out of the country for a while (sweden) without internet, and the new GW format takes some getting used to.

I have the fastest DSL and it can be slow especially when there is pictures. What can you do?

And, often it just hangs up while sending the ad portion and never gets to the forum message. I find I have to hit the browser BACK key, go back to the forum index and choose the message again to get past the ad.
Also, those double underlined green hyperlinks are most intrusive.

What can you do?

Get a Mac? I never see ads on GW using Safari, and don't have slow load probs w/cable. Don't know if it makes any diff, but I'm a contributing member.

Thought it was me - so I installed some extra spyware......that didn't help. It is so frustrating I don't visit as much as I would like to..............

I'm using my network at work (shhhh, don't tell my boss - yes, I know they know) and I am having the same problem. Freezes up on some posts.

Same here,that's why i come here less and less.Some things take forever and a day and i also have cable.None of the other sites i go to has this problem.Also it doesn't make any difference if you pay or not,i see paying members complaining about the same thing.

I am using Firefox with extensions Adblock and NoScript and the pages load fairly quickly:

I agree with Chilidawg, using Firefox, I don't notice anything being a problem. I am a paying member if that makes a difference. Firefox is free, less prone to viruses and spyware, and easy to download and intall, here's the link below in case you're interested. Sue
