ID unknown bush or shrub

I'm in a new subdivision and I was given this by a new neighbor who was going to throw this away. It doesn't look very good or full right now after coming through 3 weeks of the freeze. It also had been transplanted late Oct in high heat and was recovered from that when we had the first bad freeze for 5 days in Nov. and then the last one in Jan. It's a very pretty bush, normally very lush with leaves not sparse like this now. Right now it stands about 3 feet tall and about that wide. I'd like to know what it is to know how big it gets to either leave it where I put it or transplant it to a more appropriate location if it's going to get big and tall.

Thanks for any guesses or point me in the right directions to go looking for something close to id it.

It's hard to tell from the leaves, but maybe one of the (common name) mallows - Lavatera, Malva, Anisodontea?

Hi Brenda, I got this bright idea last night about sunset to take the photo of this. That's also why it's such a poor photo. I knew it was supposed to rain today and once I decided I could ask on here what it was I didn't want to wait:) That looks like it's a pretty good guess to me. I think if that is so, I need to move it again if it can get 12 feet tall I don't want it where I put it! The neighbor across the street was going to throw it and a couple of other shrubs away and it was hurry up and dig a couple of holes in the heat. I didn't have time to figure out where to put it. I thought this was good at the time.
