Papavar 'Drama Queen'!

Whoever named this poppy definitely got it right. I have been waiting to see this bloom ever since I first laid eyes on it in Annie's Annuals online catalog.

First the tiny plants grew taller and taller, reaching for the sky at over 4 feet. Then, as the buds grew fatter, the anticipation grew. When one of the droopy buds pointed straight up, I knew I wouldn't have to wait much longer.

Then, the next day, the Drama Queen made her grand and very dramatic entrance.

Oh my!

I swear, this photo is not a digital exaggeration.

Edna, I think you need this poppy. Or did you get one at Annie's?

Too bad I can't spell. The title should read Papaver 'Drama Queen.'

Drama Queen continues to amaze me. Here are some pictures of her in the sun. The colors are true, except in the last picture the sun fooled the camera's eye and lightened the colors.

"OH MY!" is right! I did, I did!!!! I got this poppy OMGosh!!! I just see a head coming up but not as advanced as Vicki's. I can hardly wait . . . Thanks so much Vicki for giving me something to look forward too.
