Hey there, I have a number of new blackberries and raspberries and have done some research on it. I have Prime-Ark Freedom, Olallie, Boysen, Triple Crown and a number of raspberries.

The Prime-Arks do very well in CA, better than in Arkansas in fact. Based on trials, they grow bigger and are more productive in CA.

The only question is the chill hours, which remain unknown for many of these new varieties. But, from my understanding, the primocanes don't need chill hours so you'll get berries no matter what.

Other varieties to try would be osage and ouchita. Osage is said to be the best tasting out of all the arkansas varieties.
