Japanese blood grass, ivy geranium, acorus, blue senecio, barrel cactus and weeds. I'm counting the days 'til spring.

Hosenemesis,
I just wanted you to know that a girlfriend of mine showed me photos of your beautiful garden last year. It was the final inspiration that I needed to rip ever single thing out of my Simi Valley yard and redo it into the yard/garden of my dreams. We added hundreds of bulbs, roses, cottage style plants, brick borders, and more. I now know my neigbors a lot more and they now know me. It has brought me such extreme joy. My mind is racing to redo the backyard withing the next year. My favorite part is watching the bunnies in the morning and the birds coming to the feeders all day long. Thanks again for posting amazing photos. Gena

Barrel cactus in a barrel is so cute. :)

As far as my personal measurements go, Spring has arrived. The Fiddleheads and Popcorn Flowers are just starting to bloom and they bring in the season.

I have officially begun the Spring pruning ritual.

I'm still trying to finish rose pruning! Then mulch, dormant spray, maybe even some fertilizer this year. January is the busiest month.

Gena, you just made my day! I would love to see your garden- especially this spring. If you'd like to show it off, just email me.

Hoovb, how many roses have you pruned already? I was exhausted after five... and full of punctures.

I really like the texture of your senecio. I just removed my lawn and planted a whole section with senecio.

I'm in the same situation as Westelle, it seems like we might have an early spring this year. I was really surprised to find so many plants breaking dormancy yesterday: Erythrina Crista-Gallii, Blue potato bushes, pomegranate and even my plums and cherries! I just hope we don't get any late frost!
