Hi: I'm done w/galvanized wire cloth - a few years and it rust away. Gophers chewing on my veggies! I'm looking for a source for 1" stainless steel chicken wire in the San Francisco Bay Area. Does anyone have an inexpensive source for this material. I need a 5' wide by 50 foot roll.
thnx

Well it won't be chicken wire, but look in salvage yards, where many specialty metal products show up. Even if you don't find anything usable for your needs it will be fun looking. Al

I don't think there is any market for it, and it wouldn't be cheap if it did exist. You'd probably be better off using more durable materials such as hardware cloth; it will still eventually rust out, but being thicker, it will take many more seasons to disappear.

After an hour of looking on the web I found a company in Berkeley CA that has stainless steel (304) chicken wire in the size I wanted (1' mesh). It's not as expensive as other stainless steel wire mesh/cloth I found previously. I am going to purchase a 48' * 100 ' roll. Does anyone living in the Santa Rosa, CA area want to purchase half the roll? Cost would be half of whatever I pay.

Howard Wire in Hayward is the best I've found in the bay area, with Mc Nichols in Hayward a close second.

I know this is an old request, but if you're still interested, I found a source in Berkeley - TWP Inc. - that sells 3/4" stainless Hex mesh in rolls that are 48" x 50'.

Here's the link: http://www.twpinc.com/wire-mesh/TWPCAT_5/TWPCAT_19/p_3_4X3_4S0320W48HEX

They have galvanized hex mesh too.
