Love that orange, especially with the dark stems. Renee

That's pulchella? Looks quite like Tequila. The pulchellas I picked up some years ago turned out to be s. uinverticillata, so I've not seen pulchella 'Kunth' before....hmmmm.Nice...My Tequilas get to about 12 ft or more.....does the Kunth get that large also? Wonderful shot of the hummer. The only place here that I've come across one of their nest was in the oak tree..guess I'd better start looking around more. Crows are building nests here and the red tails are throwing a fit with their screeching, so I suppose they must be also. I would have grabbed that whale pot also......probably never see another one of those. It's a bummer to go to yard sales without taking every cent you've got...there's always so much stuff that 'gets away'.....lol

The experts at the salvia forum agree with your ID. I was going by what the plant tag said. This salvia is very rangy and has hit 7 feet tall. Yes, I find with many garage sales I am in and out in about 15 seconds. This one though had real cool stuff that I and lots of other folks were interested in. The poor guy naming the prices was surrounded and followed around like the Pied Piper. He must have been exhausted by the end of the first hour. On the other hand, he had a wad of cash!

lol...yeah, the wrong label problem is quite big with the salvias and then they change the names, and then there are all those waiting yet to be named...all of the various seedlings given names for the benefit of sales...sometimes takes a bit of detecting to find out what we truly have....under any name, Tequila is quite stunning. I want that whale pot....lol..

Nice photos! Does that salvia spread everywhere?
|
I would say only that my largest has been in the ground about 4 years, maybe longer and has shown no signs of rhizomes / stolons / spreading. I don't find any info disagreeing with that.
