thanks for the better look, renee. i like the contrast of the rusty iron setting off the softness of the blossoms- why so many of us love hard sculpture in gardens, or we even bring in rocks.

al- our childhood spirea was that big but we could sit beneath it, which makes me think our dad cut it high so he could mow under there. he did the same thing to our willow- gave it a very high dutch cut and i knew even then that it looked odd and unnatural. to this day i despise overly trimmed shrubs and trees and i think your spirea is perfectly beautiful. min

Wowsers, Al! That Weigela is stunning too. I don't think they do well here- more's the pity.
