watermelon and musk melon in So CA?

Hello all,

Finally have the room to try both of the above but wasn't sure if I should be searching out a specific variety for our So CA climate. I have a full sun area in SZ 21 / 9b on decomposed granite. I see seedlings of Sweet Crimson watermelon at the local nursery but haven't seen any other varieties or musk melons. Any tips would be appreciated.

At Lowes today I saw ambrosia cantaloupes and hales best cantaloupes so check Lowes.
