Went to Home Depot and bought some onion plants about 4-6" tall. They were Grano Brown, short day. I transplanted them and now they are forming buds and if left alone no doubt will bloom in 4-6 weeks.

I am not aware of short day onions forming buds when planted in early February. According to what I have read they should form bulbs if planted this early. Did I make a mistake here?

If you can enlighten me concerning this I'd appreciate it. I have been trying to get a consistent bulb onion crop for 3 years now without success. If anyone is close to me and successfully and consistently can produce bulb onions by either starting their own seed or buying plants from a seed house please respond here. I need some assistance please
