I think that same palm is currently parked in my pot ghetto! Amazing how big they are when you get them inside, isn't it? The one I have got sunburned when I stuck it outside. I'm in Southern California, though, and we had a really hot day last week, so yours may do better. Try a search on them- I vaguely recall a thread about this topic in the past.

Your Kentia palm was grown for indoor use, and will sunburn badly if you place it outdoors, even if it is only 5 hours a day. They can be acclimated to being grown outdoors in sun here in cooler parts of the SF bay area that get some fog, but it has to be done gradually. I'd suggest you gift this to a friend with a shady garden setting if you can't fit it indoors. They are so slow growing, once foliage gets sunburnt, it will take several years to outgrow the damage.
