That's beautiful. I have to make myself do better at chopping things way back....like my tagetes lemmonii that are looking really ragged....I need to give them a good haircut. After the rains...can we really say that? After the rains? I hope they're right, I need an inch or two here.

So they say- an inch or so coming our way. I did not put the sprinklers on rain delay, though, for fear of jinxing it.

Gorgeous! Renee, what is the tallest large leafed plant left of the nandina? The previous owners left a similar plant. Poor thing was planted in a small pot without drain holes. We replanted it in a half wine barrel, hope it will be happier there. Can't wait to see if we get Bird of Paradise flowers...or bananas, lol!

The east end of our house has a foundation planting of Nandins that were planted in 1957. Every couple of years I cut the largest stems down to the ground. If I don't they will be above the gutters. They have huge amounts of berries that the birds leave alone until everything else is gone. Renee you seem to have gardens within your garden, all lush and beautiful. Al

Very lovely, Renee. My Nandina is in full shade and that seems to keep it in check. It has never gotten over 3' tall. It may also be a smaller variety, too, since it's fairly new. Linda, those large-leafed plants to the left of the Nandina are giant Birds of Paradise. Have several in my yard. If they get too big, I just chop down the biggest parts, and let the pups grow. They can be a bit of a nuisance, but I leave them in my yard since so many birds enjoy them, especially my lovely Hooded Orioles.

Beautiful shot! Very pretty indeed. A well-grown Nandina is a beautiful plant. They are so common and so easily neglected, we tend to forget that.
