I have Sequoia, but they are short-day strawberries, not everbearing. The flavor is very good. Irvine is supposed to be a good day-neutral, but I don't have any personal experience with it, just what I read.

I lived in Los Osos nearly 20 yrs and had the BEST strawberries there. I bought Sequoias bare-root in Feb, and knowing little about gardening at the time, I planted them in the native sand with a handful of compost each and watered them. That was it. I overplanted and shared with the birds, snails, slugs & pill bugs and friends still got a bit weary of me offering them big bowls of strawberries whenever they came by. The Sequoias bore for months on end. They were delicious and normal sized (not gigantic) but I can't compare to other varieties because that's the only one I grew.

Here in my garden boxes in SLO my strawberries (Sequoias again) don't grow nearly as well. They much prefer the sand and the coastal climate. It's the edible I miss most -- they were absolutely effortless in LO.

Cool to know. I guess I can't really go wrong if I just get the three varieties that are available locally. I just moved here in December and am loving gardening in Los Osos.

I was at LO Nursery yesterday and Hope has bare root Sequoias and another one that wasn't familiar to me -- Seascape, perhaps? She said that customers request it, so that might be another contender.
