What are these?!

Found these on the gage(?) tree that came planted curbside with the house. I'm not sure what they are but I have removed all (most of) them by hand. Ants were all over them so I think they might have been in cahoots.

If I know what they are I can probably put up a better defense.

They look like Prunus, a flowering cherry. Al

Possibly scale insect eggs underneath hard shells. I just found some on my nectarine last week. Picked them off and a bunch of powdery junk dispersed out.

I'm not that familiar w/scale insect eggs though, just the adults. If there are ants living near the tree, that can be a big clue to the presence of scale.

Yeah, I think that they might be some scale insencts. I did some searches and found similarly looking things.

I'll have to keep a close eye on them.
