Something truly different for patio containers

I chose these plants because I wanted the terrace to have a unique look, and I knew these plants would grow perfectly on this terrace that is shaded by both the house and the Mayten tree. Both of these plants are perfectly hardy here in the Berkeley Hills, but look tropical.

bahia In the first shot there is a 8' gray cut leaf plant in the background. Do you know it's name?
You provide very nice colorful photos. I doubly like your pictures because you provide plant labels. It takes a lot of energy and time for you but makes it very easy for me to look up. The other day you made me want to paint the house. That is trouble enough, goddess forbid you make me want to stucco the house.

Peggie, I labeled the photo title with the name of this plant. It is a South African plant that I introduced to my friend, Annie Hayes of Annie's Annuals, and she usually has this for sale mail order or at the nursery year round.
