I like using their Walt Whitman mix for topdressing as compost and mulch, but it isn't long lasting as mulch, and you wouldn't want to use it with things that don't like manure. If you put it down at least 3 inches thick and aren't spray irrigating, it can act as a mulch and also build up the soil fertility. If you want a mulch that actually remains for several years and suppresses weeds, I would recommend the Grape Seed Compost as mulch, but it isn't as quick releasing of nutrients for a vegetable garden.

Thank you. I've used the grape seed compost for mulching my small container garden and love it. The Walt Whitman might be too hot for some of the drought tolerant plants I'm using. It would be great for the veggie garden, though.
