Drought tolerant doesn't have to mean staid and boring, or predictable for that matter. Most of the plants in this composition are as common as mud in southern California, but put them all together in the right proportions, toss in a few secret ingredients like this Linaria reticulata 'Velvet Red' from Annie's Annuals, and voila! The great secret about this Linaria, is that you can plant this out at any time of year, and know that it will be in bloom in 6 to 8 weeks like this. You also have to know that it pays to tip pinch this annual ruthlessly for the first month to force bushiness, and quadruple your floral power...
