narrow columnar evergreen

Newbie here with an empty front yard. For the entryway-I am looking for a strong vertical element (at least 6 feet tall) something that will reach no more than 4 ft. in width-or can be maintained with minimal pruning. Nothing fussy. thinking arborvitae or juniper, possibly holly. Exposure is morning/early afternoon sun, but it can get pretty blazing in the summertime. Also, for the opposite side just east of this I'm thinking lilac chaste tree or vitex. This would be planted in a bed that is already in place in front of the porch and bordered by a concrete path approx. 2ft.x3.5ft. I like the idea of vitex because ( i think) it is smaller and has kind of an open arching kind of habit. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. not sure how to post a pic..
