Alstroemeria/Princess Lily

Yes, they are the garden's official Slug Magnet. But they are gorgeous, especially at this time of year. I have some lovely peachy apricot ones that are obviously very happy where they are (fronting Chihuly and Lady Emma Hamilton roses), so happy that they are spreading out like crazy.

That's a good thing, up to a point, but I'm wondering if I can take some of my clump and start a new stand of them in another part of the garden. Trouble is, I don't know how to begin. I know they have fleshy roots. Do I just bravely put my trowel in there and lift out some of them? Advice, please.
