cherry tree

My 7 year old cherry tree is dying. Last December after the leaves dropped, I decided to prune it and cut back a couple branches that I didn't want. Everything seemed OK and bloomed normally with new crops. Two branches partially died. I cut them back a couple feet. The cherries started to turn yellow (haven't fully matured/developed), and dropped. Not one of them has grown normally. The skin of the trunk/bark looks smooth except for one spot near the ground that looks like a "jelly like" substance. What did I do wrong? Did I over-water it?

I had tons of fruit the last 3 years. I will not have any this year. They will all drop on the ground.
