Probably both, chad. They will grow back from the roots, as well as freely self-seed. They smell lovely, are a cool flower because they bloom at night. You'll see the hummer snagging a last drink in the evening from Nicotiana. The plant is poisonous - part of the tobacco family - but if that's not an issue for you, a great addition to a garden!
