Tree ID?

Can anyone give me a positive ID on this tree? It is deciduous.

I also think it looks like a Crape Myrtle.

Yep. Crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica). In addition to the seed pods, the exfoliating bark on the trunk is another definitive clue. Once it blooms this summer, you may want to snip a branch with some leaves and blossoms and take them to a local nursery to see if they can't ID the particular cultivar.

Sorry for the poor photo, I had posted 2, but one disappeared -- yes those are seed pods that have remained on the tree since last summer (I guess).

After doing some google work I think Crape Myrtle is the correct ID. There is also one planted on the street that you can barely see by the bed of the black pickup, then there is a flowering plum and a giant bird of paradise out of frame to the right. Too many trees!
