garden maintenance pro question

Posted by homey_bird (My Page) on

I am aware of the licensing requirements of a general contractor in California, but I am trying to find out the same for a garden maintenance pro to do mow+blow.

- What are state laws related to hiring them? I know there is a landscape contractor license.
- If there is a mishap on property such as bee stings etc, while an unlicensed person is working on the property, is it property owner's responsibility to pay medical costs?

Thanks in advance!

RE: garden maintenance pro question

I wouldn't call the mow and blow guys "pros." They should have a business license in the city where they work, but I would guess that many of them don't. If they got hurt on your property they could sue you.

For official answers to your questions, contact your county's Agricultural Commission.

Also, refer to your property insurance. It usually covers hiring help on your property with injuries.

You can ask your mow and blow guys if they carry worker's comp.

Hi all, thank you for sharing. I will check property insurance.
