It's not like we don't know by now what happens when you introduce non natives...SO WHY? why did UCB use this grass as "cattle" feed?
I can only imagine the oak seedling-and other natives- genocide, this grass causes..

LOL - laughing at your descriptions... "grow one micron from the base of any plant...", "soaking the ground... to a muddy mess". It's amazing how a single little plant can create a horror show nightmare in the garden which we planted for our own enjoyment. Even after eradication, the memory of the nightmare lingers on.

I had that experience with Ipheion, the cute little bulb about the size of a garlic clove that grows into a cute little grass-like clump ---- then spreads BILLIONS of seeds around the entire yard, and the bulbs multiply underground as fast as ants and grow one micron from the base of any plant.

Can you brush Roundup on it with a paper towel or paintbrush?

THANKS all. As I was doing more digging them out and pulling them out of pots..I had this observation-My Aloe pots were mostly clear of them..so were most of my front yard Aloes bases clear of that pest. A potted Aloe plicatilis was free 100%, while a nearby potted Cereus and Trichocereus cacti were stuffed full with that pernicious weed.
Maybe UCB can take my observation and use whatever chemicals those Aloe's have for a non toxic Veldt grass round up ?
And hurry-Roses are eaten alive by that grass!
