Trimming our asparagus

Hi there! Here's what: our asparagus bed is 4 yrs and doing well, small, about 20 plants. This year it never died all the way back, there has been green growth in this or that area, yellowed at most, so when is the best time to trim back the green growth? Or do we just let it keep growing? Thanks from a new member here.

Our neighbor back home in Wisconsin had a full city lot of asparagus. After harvesting, they chopped it all to the ground and then mowed it all down. It came back year after year.
