Choosing location for my yellow ginger (Hedychium flavescens)

Hi all,

I'm about to plant 7 fairly large yellow ginger plants in our yard and am trying to decide on a location.

My preferred spot would be off the side of our house where we're likely to have a nice breeze blow the scent of the blooms into our living and dining areas. My only concern is that the spot I have in mind gets fairly direct late afternoon sun for about 3-4 hours most days, and a decent amount of heat is refracted off the redwood siding and windows that the ginger would be planted alongside. Is this too much heat/light for these guys (they would be well irrigated but is that enough)?

I've read that partial shade is best though some sun is okay in coastal areas (I'm about 25 minutes from the beach, so not exactly coastal).

I'd really love to plant them off to the side of the house, but not if they're likely to get scorched..

Thanks for your insights!
