So, my friend is driving me in his car and he's telling me what a bad driver a mutual friend of ours is. To make his point, he proceeds to imitate said friend's driving style by rapidly accelerating then slamming on the brakes. Why he decided to give this little demo when we were on our way back from Flora Grubb Nursery with plants in the back of the car is beyond me. I immediately looked back to take a headcount and saw that my Kniphofia had suffered a double decapitation -- one flowerhead completely knocked off, the other one hanging by a thread (see below).

Anyway, is there any first aid I should perform on this plant? As it grows out, is it going to forever have a strange, stubby appearance on top? I'm so upset I don't know what to do. I suppose I should just be grateful my Protea 'Pink Ice' is intact.
