Is it bermuda grass? That's what my mom used to call it. The only solution is digging, if it is.

Assuming you are talking about a fruit orchard that is hand-picked as opposed to fruits and nuts harvested by windfall/shaking, the least effort organic option is to mulch 3-6" deep over newspaper/cardboard. If you don't care too much about the box quality, any grocery store is a good bet to obtain all the boxes you could possibly want and mulch is often free from tree trimmers who would otherwise have to pay a landfill fee.

The only time I wouldn't recommend mulching an orchard is if you are growing a marginally hardy subtropical crop. In that case, radiant heat from the soil might be critical in protecting the trees from frost damage during the winter.

Are you referring to Cynodon dactylon, or what? A botanical name would help.

Unfortunately, neither my daughter, PTA President, nor I are involved with getting rid of this invasive grass, just asked the question. I will try to find botanical name for grass.

The woman in charge of this project believes it to be Bermuda Grass.

Devil's grass aka Bermuda Grass... only way I know of getting rid of it is to dig it out as much as you can. Every year.
