Looks like one of the Ribes. Nice plants. Its up to you if you like them. The natives are drought tolerant and will never die of cold.

I am thinking it is some sort of currant, but why someone would put one in a major landscape design is beyond me since it is fairly scraggly- looking.

Gotcha, thanks guys. It seems that this definitely is a currant. I think it's worth seeing what type of flowers and berries it produces to decide if I'll keep it.

Currants have alternate leaves. This is something else.

Thanks for the input nonmenber! I moved it for now, and i'll keep it until at least next spring to see if it blooms and what it does then.

I don't recognize it, but I recognize that nut grass and the spreading weed, spotted spurge. It may be too late already but I suggest carefully removing that spreading weed before it drops hundreds of seeds. The nut grass is a tough one to kill....

Yea, I'm also combating bermuda grass! ahhh this may take some time to erradicate. I'm trying my best to stay away from chemical treatments (glysophate), but we'll see how this goes. I have an entire lawn of bermuda.
