When do So. Ca. Nurseries Stock up for Fall ?

We are enjoying lovely "autumn" weather. Nice for planting, I'd guess. However, nurseries are never as well stocked, for usually obvious reasons,in August. Should I wait until Oct. for hopefully better supply to choose from,or order now while weather is nice? For all we know, Oct. could put us into the midst of a Santa Ana awfulness.I much prefer seeing and taking home, vs. ordering, but not as much out there now?.

July-August always seemed the most barren months. September much better with the arrival of chrysanthemums.

I buy as soon as I see them but don't plant until late Oct.
You can keep alive in pots just like nurseries do and better choices in Sept-Oct then now anyway.

I realized as soon as I'd posted that, despite how nice and cool it may be now, it could turn in a heartbeat, so best to wait until most chances of real heat have passed.
And, as you say, better selection in nurseries then, too.
