Growing summer veggies in fall/winter

This year I'm trying to grow more summer veggies into the fall and winter. I've tried before with some success, but usually don't tend to them as good as I should. This year I have better intentions. :)

I'm growing zucchini (just starting to produce), cukes (cool breeze), and several new varieties of bush beans just to see what happens. All are in black plastic pots from 5 to 15 gallon. I know productivity will be reduced because of less sun and warmth... but some is better than none.

Frost is rare here. I'll be growing these against south-facing windows with lots of sun. They do get some reflection but I'm thinking of maybe getting some mylar sheeting for even greater light bounce.

Has anyone had success growing off-season veggies?
